There was a time when guidelines for decorating the nursery was specifically according to gender, which in turn left those preparing for a baby girl very few bedding choices. Not long ago, pink and white ensembles were the norm for a girl's nursery with the most adventurous parents daring to try some yellows or greens.

Fortunately, that's no longer true, and future moms and dads are now able to be creative and adventurous in their decorating choices. Blue nursery bedding is no longer off limits for decorating the nursery of a little girl, and using blue in the nursery provides an opportunity to use many different shades.

Boy baby bedding can come a long way from pink, today blue is used as a part of a girls room theme. Blue would be the central color in any water themed room or even nurseries featuring the sky or flowers. The people who like to have the latest decoration, often feel inclined towards geometric patterns which look appealing, blue color being used in most of them.

It is important to have some knowledge of the few but essential features common to all quality nursery linens before settling for the first bedding design that grabs your attention. Make sure to shop for linens that fit standard crib and toddler bed dimensions; linens that are too small or too large can pose serious risks to your baby.

Crib bedding must be constructed from hypoallergenic materials, and should include a label describing them, because unethical nursery bedding manufacturers may use hazardous chemicals known to be chronically dangerous to the respiratory systems of infants. Several reputable sellers describe the bedding's content. Rarely do they sell linens that don't conform to standard dimensions, this allows anxious parents to focus their attention on decorating.

Envision yourself joyfully working on the final touches of your daughter's beautiful new blue-toned room. Maybe you'd prefer a heavenly decorating scheme, with cherubs and a blue, cloud-filled ceiling, or perhaps a marine-life decor with beckoning mermaids and other cheerful sea creatures. Whichever shade of blue you decide on will firmly state that just because you have a girl doesn't mean her room has to be the same old shade of pink.
